AFSC's MLK Volunteer Day was a huge success!

On Monday, January 18th, our office in Greensboro hosted a volunteer day to make disaster response kits for Haiti.  The turnout was immense, and we are very thankful to everyone who came!  We made nearly 100 kits for Haiti (out of an expected 50), and another 70 for distribution to those in need locally.

The local media was out in force covering Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service events around town.  Many mentioned AFSC specifically!

Mayor Bill Knight (pictured, with Jessica Langley (right), our VISTA Volunteer) showed up early in the day to learn about AFSC and our service work.  We also want to thank in particular the American Hebrew Academy for helping us sort through the kits afterward and make sure everything was in order.
